Informal Probate
Settling an estate, without the courtroom.
When a loved one passes and the estate is uncontested, I prepare and file the informal probate paperwork so the estate can be administered without a formal hearing.
What we prepare
The filings an informal probate needs
Application for Informal Probate
Opens the estate and asks the court to appoint a personal representative without a hearing.
Letters of Appointment
The court’s document proving the personal representative’s authority to act for the estate.
Notice to Creditors
The required notices to heirs and creditors, published and mailed on the estate’s behalf.
Inventory & Closing
The inventory of estate assets and the closing statement that wraps up administration.
Whether an estate qualifies for informal probate is a legal question. Call and I’ll tell you honestly whether you should speak with an attorney first.
How it works
Three steps, no mystery
Most matters are finished within a week of our first call.
Tell me what you need
Call, email, or send a message. I'll tell you plainly whether this is something I can prepare or whether you need an attorney.
We gather the details
Names, dates, and property information. I prepare a flat-fee quote before any work begins.
Sign, notarize, record
Come by the Stockton Hill office or meet me online. I notarize and, where it applies, record or file with the county or court.
Common questions
Questions we hear every week
Does every estate need probate?
Not always — some assets pass outside probate. I can explain the process, but whether you need it is a question for an attorney.
How long does informal probate take?
Arizona requires the estate stay open at least four months for creditors. Paperwork on our end is usually ready within a week.
What will you need from me?
The death certificate, the will if there is one, and a list of the estate’s assets and the heirs.
How much does it cost?
A flat fee quoted before any work begins, plus the court’s filing fee. No hourly clock.
